As a mark of special friendship between India and UAE, seven iconic buildings in Abu Dhabi - Abu Dhabi Global Market, IPIC, Emirates Palace, Marina Mall, Capital Gate, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Mohamed Bin Rashid Tower and Sheikh Zayed Mosque, in Abu Dhabi will be lit up in Indian Tri Color to commemorate the 70th Republic Day of India, today at 7 PM.

This morning the Embassy of India celebrated the Republic Day in the presence of over 700 members of the Indian community, friends of India and members of the media. Ambassador Navdeep Suri unfurled the Indian tricolor which was followed by his reading out the Hon’ble President’s Address to the Nation. The Embassy also commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion. Mr VTV Damodaran, President, Gandhi SahithyaVedi presented a Charkha to the Mission which was unveiled by Ambassador Navdeep Suri. The Charkha has been permanently installed in the Embassy’s premises.

A cultural program in the Embassy auditorium enthralled the audience which included captivating dance performances by Rasmanjari group of Shri KundanMukherjee, a dance exuding the spirit of patriotism by Abu Dhabi Bengali Community, Kavadiyattam, a traditional folk dance of Tamil Nadu choreographed by Dr Asha Nair and a patriotic song by the students of GEMS United School Abu Dhabi. Participants of Hindi Quiz Competition held earlier on ViswaHindi Divas 2019, were given certificates by Ambassador.
