Date: August 24, 2026

IMPORTANT ADVISORY FOR INDIAN NATIONALS IN THE UAE

Subject: Fraudulent practices by unauthorized agents/individuals in the name of obtaining Emergency Certificate / Exit Permit / Emirates ID / visa regularization

It has come to the notice of the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi that a number of Indian nationals in the UAE, particularly among blue collar workers, have fallen prey to scams run by individuals/agents falsely claiming to assist them in visa regularization / obtaining an Emergency Certificate or a White Passport / obtaining Exit Permit or Outpass to enable their exit from the UAE / obtaining Emirates ID / obtaining an employment, etc.

2.     In the course of this fraudulent process, such individuals/agents make the victims scan their face and fingerprints to fraudulently conduct financial transactions, open bank accounts, or obtain loans or credit cards in the name of the affected Indian nationals, without their knowledge or consent. This can lead to victims finding themselves liable for financial dues or transactions they are unaware of resulting in multiple fines, travel bans, and in some cases, even jail time.

3.     To ensure your safety and avoid falling victim to such fraudulent practices, all Indian nationals are advised to strictly observe the following:

  1. a. Do not share your Passport or Emirates ID or biometric data (eye/face scan or fingerprint) or personal and financial credentials with any unauthorized individual or agency under any circumstances.
  2. b. Biometric scans (eye/face scan or fingerprint), where required for exit permit (Outpass), Emirates ID, or visa regularization, must be furnished ONLY at official UAE Government facilities/counters, and never through private individuals, agents, or third-party service providers claiming to be authorized by the UAE authorities.
  3. c. The Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi DOES NOT require any fingerprint scan or face/eye scan from applicants for the issuance of Passport or Emergency Certificate. Any individual or agent demanding such biometric data in the name of the Embassy is engaging in fraud and should not be entertained.
  4. d. Indian nationals who are approached by any unauthorized individual or agent demanding biometric data or Emirates ID are advised to approach Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayta Kendra through toll free number – 80046342, or Whatsapp / SMS to 00971543090571 or email at pbsk.dubai@mea.gov.in for verification of credentials or any other assistance.

4.      In view of the above, the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi urges all Indian nationals residing in or visiting the United Arab Emirates to exercise caution, verify the credentials of any individual or agency offering such services, and to promptly report any suspicious activity to the Embassy and/or the concerned UAE authorities.
